For those of you who have to drive down W. Lane avenue on a daily, or weekly basis, you might be wondering, “Why in the heck is there new construction causing me to not be able to get remotely close to the store I need to get to.” No? Maybe that’s just me, but regardless you have probably noticed the outrageous amount of construction. The reason for all the orange barrels, is a project aptly named, “The Lane.” The project includes apartments, offices and a Homewood Suites with 109 units for guests. Bizjournal.com writes,
“A Homewood Suites with 109 units will become part of the redevelopment project that called for a 119-room Cambria Suites when it was unveiled last August. The project will include offices and apartments at the site of the former Lane Avenue Baptist Church and nearby residential properties along Upper Arlington’s key commercial corridor.” – Bizjournal.com
Set to open on August 22nd, the hotel will be an “extended stay hotel,” featuring large rooms, with refrigerators, dishwashers, and microwaves, among other amenities. The Whole Foods Market across the street provides a place for guests to buy groceries for their stay. The Lane will also feature apartment homes, which are already being pre-leased.
In addition, one of Columbus’ best restaurant entrepreneur’s has plans to open up a new restaurant in The Lane. That’s right, Cameron Mitchell is set to open his first “American Grille.” Returning to his hometown of Upper Arlington, Cameron Mitchell is set to open his new restaurant right across the street from one of his first restaurants, The Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern. According to Columbus Underground, Mitchell’s American Grille will feature “a menu to include several Flatbreads, Steaks, Roasted Chicken, and Knife-and-Fork Sandwiches. In addition, they will showcase a 200-bottle wine selection, as well as artisan cocktails and craft beers.” – Columbus Underground
This new addition to Lane Ave is sure to make the area even more exciting and we can’t wait to see what is in store for The Lane.
