4th Of July in Upper Arlington

4th of July In Upper ArlingtonI’ve tried to put off writing this post probably since March, but in a weeks time we will be celebrating my favorite holiday of the calendar year…The 4th of July! I don’t care what Bostonians, New Yorkers, or Chicagonians say, Columbus has the best 4th of July celebrations.

It all starts off with Red White and Boom in downtown, Columbus on the 3rd of July. WNCI hosts the event, and you can enjoy all kinds of venders: Lemon Shake Ups, Funnel Cakes, Meat on Sticks! Of course the fireworks show is not too shabby either. Red White and Boom is quite the independence celebration.

Upper Arlington FireworksMy favorite day however, is the actual 4th of July. Why is that? Because for the majority of my life I have had the privilege of celebrating our Independence Day in Upper Arlington. Home to the largest community parade in central Ohio, the 4th of July in Upper Arlington starts early with friends and family dressed in red, white, and blue, opening their homes to entertain with food and drinks, as the parade goes down Northwest Boulevard. The parade is filled with awesome floats, from the Lacrosse Teams, to Golden Apple’d teachers, and even Ohio State Marching Band alumni. The parade starts promptly at 9:00 am so don’t be late.

The rest of the day I like to spend hopping from home to home, sharing time with friends and family, it’s a great time to catch up with those who have come back to visit for just a few short days. It’s also a great time to play some great yard games like Corn Hole, Ladder Golf or just throw the football around.

Party in The ParkParty In The Park starts at 5:00 pm in Northam Park. You can rent a table, and hangout with friends, while listening to assorted live music, and you’ll have a great spot to watch the fireworks show starting at 10:00 pm. Ask anyone in Upper Arlington, and you will most likely find that the Upper Arlington fireworks is as good, if not better, than Red White and Boom.  After the show folks retreat to their various homes to wind down and reminisce about the day. For those not ready to let the day go, check out Old Bag of Nails on Tremont road for some late evening drinks and socializing.

I cannot wait for my favorite day of the year, and I hope this post gets everyone as amped as I am to celebrate the 4th of July in Upper Arlington.
