Ohio Machine

Ohio MachineWhat a gorgeous day today! For those of you that may not have heard, Columbus recently got a hold of their very own MLL Team: The Ohio Machine. What’s the MLL you ask? Why it stands for Major League Lacrosse. Ohio has become a hotbed for lacrosse, with a few teams like Upper Arlington cracking the national top 100 rankings. The Ohio Machine plays their games on Selby Field at Ohio Wesleyan, in Delaware, Ohio. The team came to Ohio in 2012 as part of a plan for the MLL to have 16 teams by 2020.

For those of you who don’t know a lot about lacrosse, it’s been described as hockey on grass. Lacrosse is a fast paced sport, which typically features a good amount of scoring, unlike hockey or soccer. For those already familiar with the game, the Ohio Machine has few former Ohio State Buckeyes on their roster including, Kevin Mack, Logan Schuss, and Dominique Alexander. The Machine plays games through August, and we encourage those who can, to go. If you don’t feel like making the trip up to Delaware, then you can wait until the season starts next year to catch some local games, or you can tune into CBS Sports Network to watch the Machine on live television.

The players are great to interact with and it’s easy for kids to approach them, and talk some lax. The Ohio Machine is yet another fun activity to do around Columbus. If the kids are wearing you out, running around the house with no school, screaming, “take me to a lacrosse game, or I’m gonna throw this ice cream on the ceiling!” Then we absolutely recommend a little road trip up to Ohio Wesleyan to check out the Ohio Machine.
